Using Alpha Channels to create usable grass assets for unity
First i started off with an image of a fern image like this
then i opend up photoshop and used it to remove the white background and set it to trasnparent getting a result like this. I then exported as a 512x512 image for use in unity
after importing it into unity and inputting it into the terrain script i was then able to paint grass onto my terrain.
the results are pictured above
This is incredibley useful for areas the require foliage as it is easy to get a large amount of different plants by just using stock images and editing them for use in unity
